This is a series that I made last year when we had two elections (Belgium is way too complicated for it’s size). By the time the political frenzy was over I was so tired of the circus that I really didn’t do much with this set of pictures … until now.
It all started with a accidentally stumbling onto a poorly placed poster.
I had noticed that political parties were focusing on social media more than ever before and then I read that the typical posters, that I’ve known for all my life, are slowly going away. Add to that my ever growing frustration on how the political game is played these days … and a little project was born.
In the past the posters were everywhere but these days there are rules in place so they can only be displayed on specially assigned boards or on private property. But amateurism, competition, jealousy and incapability still rule and I started to find interesting scenes everywhere.
Usually you see these posters from a distance but I found it rather amusing to take a look at them up close.
It’s hard to imagine why you would spend so much money on these posters if you place them badly.
This home owner probably didn’t have the heart to decline the request from a friend to put up some posters for him.
And then there is the general weirdness of the poster game.
Why not put your poster right over a poster of one of your party fellows?
Great way to promote equality between men and women here.
A life size cutout, really?
you really think these posters of the Christian party will get much attention?
I’m sure her Europe is very transparent.
And before you know it, it’s over for a couple of years … unless one of our six (!) parliaments falls prematurely.
